Here’s a rare acoustic performance of R.E.M.’s “Driver 8”. What makes this particular performance so interesting is that it’s supposedly from a July 1984 episode of the show “The Cutting Edge”… which was almost a year before Fables of the Reconstruction was released.

Thanks so much for posting this. Sigh. The music is SO good, even with the stripped down arrangement and not even being able to hear Mike Mills’ harmonies — it’s completely compelling, and Peter Buck’s guitar hooks still make me sing along. They are so so young! As were we all.
